It shows how much Michael Jackson was loved. Almost all of the obnoxiously loud music blasting cars were playing his songs. Still Sad Panda. I hope wherever you are, you are not in pain, and you realize how wonderful and talented you were. We still miss you. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
(Yes, as for the inquiries... when my life gets a little less busy and crazy... and it will after mid-July... I will start updating and calling/hanging out with you guys again. Also I fixed my phone finally, it's been acting up for months now.)

6:02 pm - The King of Pop
|
Well, I think we all knew it had to happen eventually, but I'm still shocked and saddened that Michael Jackson died today.
I really loved his music and dancing. Love him or hate him or think he's a freak, that guy was talented. In fact, he may have been the greatest musical genius of our time. At the very least, you can say he was one of the greatest entertainers of the world.
I my earliest concrete memories of him were watching Captain EO at Disneyland (aka MJ vs. the Borg). It was so much fun. I always tried to grab that flying guy when he 3-D'ed all close to my face. The music was great and he was just so cool. "Another Part of Me" is one of my favorites to sing at karaoke.
When I was in elementary school I remember listening to the "Bad" CD all the time. It was one of the first CD's I really had. Awesome. I also adored Weird Al for making parodies of his songs all the time. Heh.
My dad bought the DVD of Michael Jackson's "History" which has a whole mess of his music videos probably more than ten years ago. I still love that set. You can tell by some of my posts a few months back that I watch that set every so often. I makes my heart hurt to think about it now though. I'll watch it again in a few days I think.
Everyone loved "Thriller" and while I do adore the zombies and horror element and well... how it was just an awesome video, my favorite will always be "Smooth Criminal." In fact, I just sang that song at karaoke last night. It's just an amazing song and an even better video. I mean, you just watch it and think. DAMN. That guy is amazing. AMAZING. (The Moonwalker game on the other hand...)
My other favorites include "Man in the Mirror" and "Remember the Time." The former because it really had a good message and the latter because it was awesome watching people be all pissed off that Michael Jackson had the hots for David Bowie's wife. Heh.
There will never be another man like him. I will miss him. I will mourn him. And I will continue to enjoy his music and celebrate his life. He is still one of my favorite musicians. His songs continue to lift my spirits, help me express my anger, or just make me contemplative.
What were your favorite Michael Jackson songs and videos? Why?
We love you, Michael.

I seriously forgot how good this series is. Also, I'm glad that my memories of it were not skewed by nostalgia.

Yes, after having it for over a year I finally set it up. It works great. Sound is good, but nothing spectacular.
As for the Optimus itself, he's exactly the same as the G1 Optimus. The head looks freaking amazing though! I love it. I would've bought it just for the recast head.
On to what was requested, pictures. (Sorry, I'm too lazy to post nice ones right now, if you really want some nice ones e-mail me)

After observing O Sensei, the founder of Aikido, sparring with an accomplished fighter, a young student said to the master, "You never lose your balance. What is your secret?"
"You are wrong," O Sensei replied. "I am constantly losing my balance. My skill lies in my ability to regain it."

5:08 pm - Random
|
So I went to eat lunch at a park today. It was my lunch break from work and I was meeting with a taxpayer so I was in a full-on business professional suit. The day was nice and sunny. A little chilly maybe.
Anyways, after lunch, I looked around. Nobody else was in the park. Nice!
So I dash over to the jungle gym and slide down the big tube slide, in my business professional suit, yelling "WHEEEEE~!!!!"
I emerged out the other end laughing and some random old guy was there and said, "Young lady, you are awesome."
Hahahaha. Weird. I think if I was an old guy and I saw a 26 year old girl in a business suit sliding down a slide I'd think of many words other than "awesome" to describe her. Oh well.
I got up and walked to my car and drove back to work.
I still have sand in my shoes but it was totally worth it. Simple pleasures are all I've got nowadays.

Hey, Don't write yourself off yet. It's only in your head you feel left out, Or looked down on. Just try your best, Try everything you can. And don't you worry what they tell themselves When you're away.
It just takes some time, Little girl, you're in the middle of the ride. Everything, everything will be just fine, Everything, everything will be alright. (alright)
Hey, You know they're all the same. You know you're doing better on your own, (on your own) So don't buy in. Live right now. Yeah, just be yourself. It doesn't matter if it's good enough (good enough) For someone else.
It just takes some time, Little girl, you're in the middle of the ride. Everything, everything will be just fine, Everything, everything will be alright. (alright)

5:22 pm - A little pain
|
This is a good song. From Nana, of course:
Translation from here
Travel to the moon You're asleep, as you work out your dreams There's no one here While the light of the stars toys with me
In order to become strong I have to remember how to smile If we're together, I can do it
* Realize that... I'm here waiting for you Even if the future is different from now I'm here waiting for you I keep on shouting I'm sure all I have to do Is pull in the thread that connects our hearts So the person I was back then Would open her eyes No need to cry
Travel in silence I can reach you if I stretch out my hands The only memory I have of you Is so far away
I can hear your voice If I close my eyes Even a little pain Would be nice
Look at me I'm here waiting for you Even if you get lost, blown away by the wind I'm here waiting for you I look up at the sky I was protecting my heart With outstretched hands Until the person you were back then Looked back No need to cry
(Feel something, feel nothing Listen closely, listen closely) Wide open ears Disarm the dream tickler In the constant moment (You will find me where it's quiet Listen closely, listen closely) Let the blood flow Through all the spaces Of the universe
Repeat *

1:08 pm - Yay going home tomorrow!
|
So my training is finally done. This'll be the last training/travel I'll have for the forseeable future too. Everything else will be rather local or case related.
It was entertaining here in Dallas, but nothing compares to California. Southern California especially. I love the sun, the fun things to do, the proximity to amazing food, and of course my pets, friends, and family. Yay! HOME!
Dallas has had it's moments. I've had the best tex-mex food ever here. Good BBQ and steak too. I even had Buffalo Filet Mignon. Nice, huh? But I would NEVER live here if I had a choice.
I think I must be a bit naive because I was actually a bit surprised at first when I noticed how much prejudice there is in Dallas. I am usually hanging out with my Asian coworker and when the locals here are trying to get our attention to sell us something or other they often yell, "Hey! Ching Chong Chink!" or this one guy at the train station who calls my coworker "Kim Jong Il" all the time. I've also had several people push past me when I'm trying to get on a train or bus saying that they had more right to get on and sit first and gave us dirty looks. (Although I don't know if that was a racist thing or a they are jerks thing) Perhaps the most naive thing is that I was shocked that all the people who did the aforementioned things were African-American.
The first time it happened I actually paused for a second and thought, "Wow. Did I really just hear that? No way. NO WAY. Of all the people in the world this is the least logical group to be that way. REALLY?? WOW." Another co-worker thinks I almost got us all killed when I told some guy who called us "Ching Chong Chink" to please be civil. The guy then got all in my face and was like, "OH? You think I'm uncivilized because I'm BLACK? HUH? HUH?" I replied that he was being uncivilized because he was saying derogatory things. He THEN got pissed off that I was using big words (WTF? REALLY??) and then was really getting in my face. Luckily for him he didn't lay a finger on me and the train came. I got on while the guy stayed on the platform yelling and flipping me off. ASSHOLE.
So yeah, that Avenue Q lyric totally holds true, "Bigotry has never been exclusively white." Ah well.
That said, I have had an interesting time here. I'm on my way to go see an Asian Art Museum, so hopefully that'll be good. Can't wait to go home though.
As for the training, it had its moments so I suppose it was worthwhile. It was great to see my coworkers from across the nation again. I totally miss those guys.
Now I'm off!
